The Surrey Advertiser published the latest figures released by Surrey Police this week to update us on the level of crime in Guildford and to highlight the safest places to live.

There has been a very small drop in reported offences since 2017, from 12,893 to 12,838 in 2018. The report shows in detail the amount of offences reported in each area and how this relates per 1000 people. 

In order of lowest amount of crimes per 1000 people to highest, Stoughton tops the table being named the safest area to live in Guildford. Unsurprisingly, Guildford Town had the highest reported crimes be it the highest population. The full list in order is below:

1. Stoughton – 742 offences – 47.7 per 1,000 people
2. Merrow and Burpham – 1,002 offences – 50.1 per 1,000 people
3. Albury, Shalford, Compton, Holy Trinity, Shere, Gomshall, Peaslake and Farley Green – 736 offences – 55.5 per 1,000 people
4. Pirbright, Worplesdon, Jacobs Well and Normandy – 588 offences – 60.5 per 1,000 people
5. Send, Ripley, Wisley, Ockham, The Horsleys, The Clandons and Effingham – 1,266 offences – 66.3 per 1,000 people
6. Ash and Ash Wharf – 1,066 offences – 69.2 per 1,000 people
7. Eashing, Hurtmore, Shackleford, Puttenham, Seale and Sands, Ash South and Tongham – 654 offences – 73.8 per 1,000 people
8. Onslow and University – 1,216 offences – 81.9 per 1,000 people
9. Park Barn and Westborough – 818 offences – 84.4 per 1,000 people
10. Slyfields and Bellfields – 573 offences – 88.7 per 1,000 people
11. Guildford Town – 4,177 offences – 280.6 per 1,000 people
